ISKA Features Vegas Open During IFW

Las Vegas – The International Sports Karate Association (IKSA) today announced the debut of its newest event for its Open World Tour of martial arts tournaments. The Vegas Open, an open sport karate exhibition for competitors and spectators of all ages, genders and martial arts experience, will be held at the UFC Fan Expo® at The Venetian® Las Vegas from Friday, July 10 to Saturday, July 11, as part of the 4th Annual UFC International Fight Week™, taking place in Las Vegas from July 7-12.

The Vegas Open will feature more than 700 martial artists participating across 350 divisions of various competition levels. Competitors will demonstrate skills in numerous areas, most notably: forms, weapons and point sparring.

Forms showcase a set routine of moves that imitate a live altercation against imaginary opponents. Similar to forms, weapons highlights a set of routines in a live fight against imaginary adversaries utilizing weapons. Point sparring involves a strategic routine with the object of delivering a hit to an opponent to a legal targeted area only using light contact to cause damage.

Demo and synchronized teams spotlight another division of exciting karate exhibitions. Demo teams perform choreographed martial artists routines as a group, including weapons, acrobatic skills and martial arts techniques. Synchronized teams, comprised of two-four martial artists, create a "dance" on stage with routines that flow from one competitor to the other. Exhibitions involving demo and synchronized teams are accompanied by music.

Grand championship titles will be awarded in a number of categories at the conclusion of the exhibitions, following contests with top ranked black belt artists facing each other for top honors.

UFC International Fight Week features a UFC Fan Expo®, the 2015 UFC Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, a UFC Reebok experience, the Ulti-man 5k, UFC Gym® Fitness Challenge and various martial arts tournaments, as well as fan events at Fremont Street Experience. UFC International Fight Week will be capped off with two highly anticipated events in UFC® 189: ALDO vs. MCGREGOR on Saturday, July 11 and The Ultimate Fighter® Finale on Sunday, July 12.
